I love to meander, whether I am driving down a country road or hiking a trail in one of the many parks and conservation areas we have right here in our own backyard.

My family had always dreamed of living close to the ocean. Yes, I am a transplant. In 2015, we moved here from Colorado. After a lot of planning, we rid ourselves of things we wouldn’t need here in Sebastian, like winter clothes, snow shovels, and ice scrapers. I shiver just thinking about it. Don’t get me wrong, I loved hiking in the mountains, snowshoeing and cross country skiing, however, the blizzards and black ice was not a close friend of mine.
The one downfall I have felt since being here is having to keep an eye out for alligators, especially when they blend into the landscape. But I am here in the middle of their world, so hopefully, we can respect each other’s personal space.

Have you ever given thought to check out those little known places right here in your own little city? The locals have a lot of great information about our area and much of it is off the beaten path.
When I find a new place, I venture out with my camera or phone in hand to explore the area. I came across one named the North Sebastian Conservation Area and followed a trail out to an opening of water that was spectacular to see.

I created a Facebook page for photography since I take so many wonderful photos. I love sharing them for others to appreciate the beauty we have right here in Sebastian. I shared the photo of that area and one of the members of the site commented; “I've lived here since 2008 and I don't think I have ever been back there. Never knew there was anything like this back there”. ~ LS We have since invited each other to take a walk together and see what nature shows us.

Whether it’s the many kinds of birds in our area or the natural landscaping, take a little time out of your busy life to stop and relax a bit. You never know what you may come across.
