Strokes and Injuries Can Be Scary
The thought of having a stroke; being in an accident and receiving injuries; or having a surgical procedure can be very frightening. I can say that from personal experience. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (M.S). 12 years ago. I recently needed back surgery and the M.S. complicated everything to do with healing. The surgeon unfortunately said my surgery was unsuccessful and that I need to really focus on my therapy.
I felt stronger and prepared to return to my life as much as possible.
Luckily, I found Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital. Encompass offers intense physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. One of the first questions they asked me was “What exactly would you would like to accomplish during your stay?” They comforted me, assuring me that their goal was to discharge me as independent, pain free and as healthy as possible.
Friendly and Helpful
All of the staff including therapists, nurses, CNA’s, social workers, janitorial and kitchen staff are extremely friendly. They go above and beyond to make your stay as productive and stress free as possible. Be prepared though, there is a minimum of three hours a day/ five days a week of PT, OT, and/or speech therapy depending on what your doctor has ordered.

Of course, nutrition is an important part of healing and general well being. You are given several meal options and, believe it or not, order extra for midnight snacks! The food is both delicious and healthy. There is definitely no excuse for going hungry during your stay.
All in all, when I was discharged home from Encompass, I felt stronger and prepared to return to my life as much as possible. They take your opinion very seriously and will follow up on your progress once you have returned home. A hospital stay I won’t forget!
